“Modelling Educational Robot”: The New Erasmus + KA2 Project

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhamed Hadziabdic and IUS Project Manager, Nadja Beglerovic M.Ed/MA, attended a kick-off meeting of the new, two-year project “Modelling Educational Robot (MER)”. The meeting took place on October 23-24, 2019 in Novo Mesto, Slovenia. The project is funded by Erasmus + Programme, Key Action: Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices - Strategic Partnerships for vocational education and training. The Erasmus+ programme of the European Union has provided 242,830 EUR for this project.

The project "Modelling Educational Robot" (MER) is meant to meet the needs of the 21st century digital society by incorporating programming and robotics in the school curriculum. This project not only represents a well-balanced combination of technology, teaching and content, but it also promotes student creativity and new ways of student evaluation. By programming the robot, students will gain a deeper understanding of programming, robotics, and artificial intelligence and will be able to see how science, engineering and math are interlinked.

The project consortium consists of five project partners: two universities: University of Ljubljana (Slovenia) and International University of Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina), and three vocational school centers: Solski center Novo mesto (Slovenia), Muratpasa Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi (Turkey), and ITIS Polo Tecnico Fermi-Gadda (Italy), and one technological institute “AIJU” (Spain). All project partners have an extensive background in teaching, programming and construction of robots.
