ME Students Visit Lukavac Cement Factory
On Friday, May 12, 2023, IUS students from the Mechanical Engineering (ME) study program, accompanied by their assistant Mr. Mohammad Alrefaee had the opportunity to visit the Lukavac Cement factory in Lukavac, Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of the Instrumentation and Measurements (EE305) course. During the tour, they had the privilege of meeting Dr. Emir Omerdić who works at the factory. Prof. Omerdić guided them through the process of making cement.
Lukavac Cement factory has a successful history of privatization dating back to 2001, and with the construction of a completely new hot line, the factory has increased its annual production capacity to 700,000 tons of clinker and over 900,000 tons of cement. Additionally, the company has expanded its business to the segment of ready-mixed concrete and started its own production in concrete factories in Sarajevo and Banja Luka.
The tour provided the students with valuable insights into the process of making cement and its applications. The ME students are grateful to Dr. Emir Omerdić, and the Lukavac Cement team for their hospitality.
